Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information EMIL Health collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've written it to be genuinely readable — not to bury important things in legal language.

1. Introduction

EMIL Health ("EMIL," "we," "us," or "our") is a health clarity platform designed to help people understand, organize, and act on their medical information. Our current beta product centers on a pharmacy marketplace experience where users can upload prescriptions, request medicines, and manage orders — with AI-assisted tools that help make health information clearer and more useful.

We built EMIL because healthcare information is often confusing, fragmented, and hard to act on. Our goal is to make it simpler — and doing that responsibly means being honest about what we collect and how we use it.

By using EMIL's services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please do not use our platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: what you give us directly, what is generated when you use our services, and what your device shares automatically.

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and phone number when you sign up or use our platform.
  • Prescription uploads: Images or files you submit containing prescription details, medicine names, dosage instructions, or related health information.
  • Medicine requests: Text or details you manually enter when requesting medicines through the marketplace.
  • Order details: Delivery address, preferred pharmacy, and any notes you attach to an order.
  • Communications: Messages or feedback you send us through any support channel.

Information generated by your use of EMIL

  • Order history and status updates.
  • Preferences and settings within the platform.
  • Interaction patterns that help us improve how the service works.

Technical and device information

  • IP address and general location (country or city level).
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type.
  • Pages visited, session duration, and error logs.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies used to maintain sessions and understand usage patterns.

We do not ask for, or intentionally collect, information that goes beyond what is necessary to provide EMIL's services. If you choose to share additional health context, it is processed as described in Section 4.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to run and improve EMIL. Specifically:

To provide our core services

  • Processing and managing your pharmacy orders from start to delivery.
  • Displaying your order history and current order status.
  • Connecting your requests to appropriate pharmacy partners.

To improve clarity and usability

  • Using automated systems (including AI-assisted tools) to help structure or interpret health-related information you submit, making it easier for you and pharmacies to act on.
  • Improving the accuracy and quality of our interpretation and organization features over time.

To communicate with you

  • Sending order confirmations, status updates, and relevant notifications.
  • Responding to questions or issues you raise with us.
  • Sharing product updates, improvements, or important policy changes.

To keep the platform safe and functional

  • Detecting and preventing misuse, fraud, or technical errors.
  • Maintaining the reliability and performance of our systems.
  • Complying with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not allow third-party advertisers to profile you based on your EMIL activity.

4. How EMIL Processes Health-Related Information

This section is especially important. Please read it carefully, as it describes how we handle the sensitive information you share with us.

When you use EMIL, you may submit information that is health-related in nature — including prescription images, medicine names, dosage details, or other medical context. We take this responsibility seriously.

What we do with it

EMIL uses automated systems, including AI-assisted tools, to read, structure, and organize the information you submit. The purpose of this processing is to make your health information clearer and more actionable — for example, by extracting medicine names and dosages from an uploaded prescription so that a pharmacy can fulfill your request accurately.

What this is not

EMIL is not a medical provider, and we do not offer medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations. Our systems are designed to help you understand and organize information — not to replace professional medical judgment. Nothing in EMIL's outputs should be treated as a clinical opinion.

Human review

In some cases, a member of our team may review submitted information to verify accuracy, resolve errors, or improve our systems. Any such review is conducted with care and is limited to what is necessary for the purpose.

Data minimization

We only process health-related information to the extent necessary to fulfill your request and improve the reliability of our service. We do not build health profiles beyond what you directly provide.

5. Sharing of Information

We are selective about who receives your information and why. Here is a clear breakdown:

Pharmacy partners

When you place an order, we share the information needed to fulfill it — including your name, delivery address, and the medicine request or prescription details — with the pharmacy handling your order. This sharing is limited to what is necessary and happens only when you initiate a transaction.

Infrastructure and service providers

We use third-party providers to host our platform, store data, send communications, and process payments. These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We select providers with appropriate data handling standards.

Legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information if we are required to do so by law, court order, or a legitimate regulatory process. We may also share information if we believe it is necessary to prevent serious harm to you or others.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal or health-related information to anyone.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not share your information with pharmacies or other third parties outside of the specific transaction context.

In the event EMIL undergoes a business transition such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you of any such change and ensure your information remains subject to this policy or an equivalent one.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your information is stored on servers hosted by reputable cloud infrastructure providers. We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Restricted access controls so that only authorized personnel can access sensitive data.
  • Regular internal reviews of our data handling and storage practices.
  • Secure handling and disposal of data that is no longer needed.

We want to be honest with you: no system is perfectly immune to risk. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your data, we will notify you promptly and take appropriate action.

EMIL is currently in beta. Our security practices are actively evolving, and we are committed to improving them as the platform grows. We do not make formal claims of regulatory certification (such as HIPAA compliance) unless we have formally achieved and verified such status.

7. Your Rights

You have meaningful control over the information EMIL holds about you. Specifically, you have the right to:

Access

Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We will provide this in a readable format within a reasonable timeframe.

Correction

Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete. This includes updating your account details or correcting an order record.

Deletion

Request that we delete your account and the personal information associated with it. Note that we may need to retain certain information for a limited period to comply with legal obligations or resolve open transactions. We will be clear about what we retain and why.

Withdrawal of consent

Where your information is processed based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before your withdrawal.

How to exercise your rights

To make a request, contact us at info@emilhealth.co. We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and aim to fulfill it within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as it is needed to provide our services and for a reasonable period afterward. Here is how we think about this in practice:

  • Account data (name, email, phone) is retained for the duration of your account and deleted upon a verified deletion request.
  • Order history and prescription data is retained to support your access to past transactions and to maintain accurate records. This may be retained for up to 24 months after your last order, unless you request earlier deletion.
  • Usage and technical logs are typically retained for up to 12 months and used only for platform maintenance and security review.
  • Communications (support messages) are retained for as long as reasonably needed to resolve open matters.

When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it. Anonymized data — where no individual can be identified — may be retained for longer periods to improve our systems.

9. Children's Privacy

EMIL is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that their child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@emilhealth.co and we will take prompt steps to delete that information.

If you are using EMIL to manage health information on behalf of a family member, including a minor, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of the platform is appropriate and that you have the authority to act on their behalf.

10. Changes to This Policy

As EMIL evolves, this Privacy Policy may need to evolve too. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are significant, we will notify you directly — by email or through a notice on the platform — before the changes take effect.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of EMIL after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree to a material change, you may request deletion of your account as described in Section 7.
